"This whole discussion is meant to look for ways to increase our membership. That has been a common concern for many of our members & it is something that our membership wants improved. The six BoD members do not have all the answers, they don't have all the ideas...that's why the discussion. But they do have the task of listening to the membership & doing what they can."
I don't have a magic answers either Steve ... but I too have opinions ... and I recognize the financial restrictions the club is limited to spreading the word... and what area of the hobby is supporting the club magazine and the convention (primarily chips & tokens). There are those who will disagree, but my point is that some of the critics may not be doing all they can (as individuals) to recruit new members of ALL collecting persuasions. I doubt this club will grow to the extent that some well-meaning folks expect it to. I recall several years ago one candidate for office stated that there is no reason why the club couldn't have/shouldn't have 20,000 members. That is pie-in-the-sky wishful thinking in my opinion.
I would be interested in knowing what number does the readers of this post, including club officers and critics, think this club can reasonably expect to expand in today's climate? Hobbies all across the collecting spectrum are experiencing the same problems that the is.
... just asking ....
