I have chips that I have cleaned & oiled about 14 years ago that look great. I only use mineral oil though & use very little.
Also, keep in mind that PaulSon has in the past used oil on their newly made hot stamped chips. I have picked up boxes of new 25¢ & 50¢ chips in uncirculated condition directly from the cage & have had to wipe down the chips when I got home. They used so much oil it did not absorb into the chips. One I can remember was the Palace Station 25¢ chip shown below. So much oil I had to throw the white box away after taking the chips out.
