oil their chips use either baby oil or plain mineral oil. How much to use, the type, and whether or not you even do it at all, is subject to differing opinions for and against.

I usually will not oil chips (particularly not ones with giant inlays, since it doesn't absorb), but if I clean a dirty chip (also the subject of discussion/debate-- usually my lower $ chips) I will usually follow up with a bit of baby oil (unscented gel) rubbed first on my finger tips, then rubbed gently over the surface of the chip. I will then let it absorb over night before blotting up any excess and putting it in an air-tite or other holder.
