Vic mentioned it on this board a number of months ago. Basically they put a texture on the rim of the chip to make the chips a little more manageable (I guess). Here's a link to Archie's website showing the pic

The $5 got the same treatment --- however in both cases the texture seems to have worn off quickly and they were back to slipperly.
