highly recommend The Orleans and the SouthPoint. While there is a geographical difference between the two, internallay they are very much alike. They even share the same blueprints! So bowling alley, movie theater (multi-screens), arcade are at each. Active poker rooms and casino games at both, but BINGO is offered at the SouthPoint.
However, I lean towards The Orleans because of the geographical differences. Staying at The Orleans means you don't have to have a car to get around. They have a shuttle to the Strip using the old Barbary Coast (now Bill's) as the pick-up and drop-off location (Flamingo and the Strip). That circut also stops at the Gold Coast, which allows walking to the Rio and/or Palms and then return to the Gold Coast to get back to The Orleans.
Rates are very low and if booked on-line, they can be exceptional! Always ask for a view of the Strip as many rooms have a panorama from the Stratosphere to Mandalay Bay, and the Silverton, SouthPoint and M-Resort beyond! A security check-point is ever present at the Guest Rooms access point. There are numerous places to eat, including a Japanese/Chinese restaurant, TGI Fridays, a Seafood Bar, Buffet and a Food Court with a Subway, Baskin Robins Ice Cream, and a Fuddruckers (hamburgers).
Well, that's my recommendations. So when will you be out?
