I went down to Fremont St for the Loverboy concert last night and took these current photos of the Plaza.
A whole lotta lights on and nobody home- a better camera with a good zoom and we could see inside a few of these rooms. Apparantly work is happening in the rooms, but not much going on outside, other than a re-paved front valet entrance and new white marble wall on the north side only.
They really need to do something about the old tile, chipped/cracked stucco columns and missing or broken mirror panels as you head south to the Greyhound depot. on the south tower, the edges of the balconies on the top 3-4 floors have been painted red, which looks pretty good.
Sorry for the semi blurry shot in the dark, but the opening soon sign shows a possibly new logo, reading Plaza Las Vegas. No firm update on whether they are really going back to the UNION Plaza with only three weeks to go until opening. Was sad to see the removal of the 40 year old front window glass that still had the etched Union Plaza logo until a few weeks' ago. (shown in last pic)
Domed restaurant that was the Firefly will become Oscar's steakhouse- Yes, THAT Oscar. Buffet will be new home to the latest location of hash house a gogo.
