Heres a current shot of the front of the Plaza- for the last few weeks, Ive noticed some of the front lights hanging (on the left), or just plain taken off (right) All of the room windows are taped off with thick black plastic, but the vent windows open.

They are still saying they expect an August re-opening. The entire food court is now closed for remodeling. I personally have seen no actual work being done, but I saw a few dozen picketing construction workers a while back on the front sidewalk protesting not having an actual contract with various plumbing, tile and carpentry companies. I don't see any real progress on work on the casino main floor.

I took the opportunity to get a look inside the showroom though, and was amazed to hear that they have NOT remodeled it lately, and the workers were impressed when I told then it was the best looking in town that I have seen- Debbie Reynolds would be ashamed at the condition of her old showroom at the now Clarion, and the showrooms at Harrahs and the Flamingo, while still being historic and nice, were nowhere near as impressive as the Plaza's. The pic doesn't do it justice, but I don't have a wide angle lens/UV filter on my new carry around Sony Cybershot.
