I guess Damon Runyon could be considered Runyonesque himself. Besides being the quintessential New Yorker with his required mob ties, the writer/author was, in all likeliehood, a poker player. I now find that c&s were often his chips of choice.

The article below shows that he was on the BoD of the Commodore AC. I'm sure he was a member of a Chicago club (Lake Shore CC?, Racquet Club?, etc)

I wonder if he saved a set of the chips from each place?
