Re: Convention advice
In Response To: Convention advice ()

Everyone at the trade sessions is friendly - many are really, really nice. Bring what you have and circulate around the room, look over other people's stuff and you'll be able to make a few trades.

But...the trade sessions have completely changed, especially last year. It use to be that after that 1st night banquet there would be a hundred people with their binders out on the tables trading - rolling suitcases full of chips were common and it would go until close to midnight - that was a regular occurring thing. Last year, I'd say there were five to ten people in the trade room after the banquet - I went out and looked in other rooms thinking I was missing the "real" trade room.

I'm not sure what happened - there are more trade sessions and that spreads the group out and the economy drops the convention attendance but last year's initial night trade session was not even 1/10th of what it usually is. Not trying to rain on the convention enthusiasm - I go every year and will be back - just wondering why the trade sessions' attendance has truly disappeared. I would think as personal chips take off and people ahve less disposable income that trading would be the thing that grows.

I'll see you there - it might be only Luke Rapley, Leonidas Tan, (they always show) and me and you but I'll see you there.
