An old country doctor went way out to the boondocks to deliver a baby. It was so far out from town, there wasn't even electricity.

When the doctor arrived, no one was home except for the laboring mother and her six-year-old little girl.

The doctor instructed the child to hold a lantern so that he would be able to see while he helped the woman deliver her baby.

The child did so, the mother pushed, and after a short while, the doctor lifted the newborn baby boy by the feet and spanked him on the bottom to get him to take his first breath.

The doctor asked the six-year-old what she thought of the new baby.

"Slap him agin," said the six-year-old. "He shouldn't a-crawled up there in the first place!"
