~~~ have an octagonal chip (metal jeton) along with rounds was: le Cercle du Commerce in POINT-a-PITRE, Guadeloupe, in 1825; they had an octagon 1/2 Gourde, made of bronze, 30mm and a 8 Gourdes, 35 mm. I don't know what the dress code was, though.

I would guess there were other gambling houses set up earlier in the Caribbean or maybe even a floating casino (m'mm, wet chips )... but I do not know of any having a name/location mentioned on their chips.
