Man sued for $15k over negative eBay remark
CAPE CANAVERAL: A Florida man has spent $7,000 defending himself in a defamation lawsuit filed by the subject of his negative eBay review.
Michael Steadman's legal funds have dried up, but the Miami-Dade County Court lawsuit against him is still pending.
It all started when Steadman bought a $44 time clock for his welding business from Miami Beach seller Elliot Miller.
Steadman says the clock arrived in three pieces of varying models that didn't fit and couldn't stamp a card, as advertised.
He returned it and got a refund through PayPal, but wanted to warn others.
On Miller's profile he wrote, "Bad seller; he has the ethics of a used car salesman."
In return, Steadman received a $15,000 lawsuit alleging he ruined Miller's reputation and 100 percent satisfaction rating.
