A lifelong supporter of the Democratic party was terminally ill with just a very short time left and was putting his affairs in order.
He called a close friend for a ride, explaining that he'd like to go to the election office to change his affiliation from Democrat to that of the Republican party.
"But why?" asked his puzzled friend, "You've been a liberal Democrat through and through for your entire adult life. Why change now?"
The man learned forward and explained, "Well, I'd rather it was one of them that died and not one of us."
