Those are VERY hard to find in that condition Robert as I am sure you are well aware. Interesting that the box is stampted GERMANY and that would answer why the chip seems to be surface stamped but as examples like yours are found, they are clearly "hot stamped" but they are a very light hot stamping that is very prone to wear. Those are the best examples of the Seymour Coded PD-FY Maltese Cross Antique chips that I have seen available. Well worth your asking price and they are typically found as the examples shown.
I think your WWII time line is right on Target and your asking price in that condition is a steal!
