I just obtained the box of chips pictured below. I believe the chips are quite rare and interesting. I once picked up some 10-15 years ago. Don't know others who have many. Don't see 'em on eBay much at all.
They are unusual in at least two ways:
¶ the design is hot-stamped on the chip (it is not inlaid, engraved or embossed). Hardly see any antique coded chips in the book like that. They are old too.
¶ I got them in their original box, distributed or made by a company I never heard of before (see the label below). I don't show it, but the bottom of the box has a rubber stamp imprint "MADE IN GERMANY." So it must be before WWII. Also, don't see many foreign-made clay poker chips coded in the book. An odd thing about the box (that must reveal its age) is that there are 2 small metal staples joining each of the 8 sides of the top and bottom halves of the boxes. You can see three of the staples, at the edges, in the scan below of the front of the box. You can also see the staples near the corners in the second picture.
For $13 you get a red, white and blue chip -- all with the same design (shown on white chip below). Used, but I'll send you nice ones (at least on one side).
