rofl LOVELOCK-Felix's Bank Club & Davin's

Thought I might as well stick with Felix "The Cat" Turillas for another post... grin

Turillas was one of the early casino operators in Reno, actually running his first games before gambling was legalized. Once gambling legislation was passed, he was one of the first to receive a license, for Lawton's Hot Springs, on April 7, 1931. He later moved to Lovelock, where he operated the Big Meadow Hotel and Felix's Bank Club.

In 1956 Turillas died, after a confrontation at the Riverside Hotel. One of his daughters got married, and the reception was at the Riverside. Another patron complained about the noise from the wedding party, and during the altercation that followed Turillas fell and hit his head, fracturing his skull. The other patron was cleared of liability.

The story came from pages 167-168 of Dwayne Kling's "The Rise of the Biggest Little City". You can read it on google books, link below the pictures... grin

Took these pictures in 2002 grin

And since the picture above shows Davin's, next to Felix's, and we only have one chip from Felix's...and only one from Davin's...I figured I might as well add Davin's to the Felix post grin
