I don't know if you noticed but that was only one piece in an auction of Russian art about to be held at Sotheby's in late April.
There are quite a few Faberge items in this auction and many of them actually border on affordable.

Many people think that Carl Faberge was the sole person creating these works of art wherby this was actually a huge business. I believe they are still in existance.
Eggs weren't the only things created by Faberge, it was pretty much if you had the money, he would make it.
