Re: Local growers, packers and bakers love them an

What I would like to know is where I can get a decent tasting tomato. If you are over 40 then and only then were you possibly exposed to what tomatoes were supposed to taste like.
Now, especially when out of season, tomatoes are shipped by truck ripened by CO2 in transit and regardless of who sells them, they are tasteless.

Though I have no Walmart close to me A&P seems to have the best produce in my area.
I've even tried their so called vine ripened variety which can be $1-2 more per pound as well as all the other varieties and they all still taste like crap.

Same seems to hold true with items such as Chicken and Pork where they have engineered the taste out of them.
Sure they contain less fat are healthier and all that but so is carboard.
Ever taste a burger that had only 5-10% fat content? Bet you would never order another.

BTW, Having not only contracted to Best Foods years ago but been at their production facility in Bayonne N.J. Hellmann's mayonaise is still the best imho.
