The emails you are referring to are valid messages sent from the Message Board server because you opted in to be notified by email whenever a reply message gets posted to a message that you post. Unfortunately, even when a SPAM-bot makes a post to such a message, it results in an email notification. We have already advised people that get a high quantity of such message, as to what they can do, i.e., ask me to edit/delete their email addy from an old post. But in the absence of such a request, the best thing to do is just ignore the email. Nearly all of it is recognizable as junk when looking at who sent it and you see a string a alphabet chararacters in upper and lower case without rhyme or reason. I would suggest ignoring thos messages, or even deleting them.
As for setting up this message board with a password control, it is easier said than done, and when done, it increases exponentially the amount of time someone has to devote to managing that control. I would also say that it would cause the use of a different message board product, which would also cause quite an uproar.
See you at the Convention!
