While I've never delved into the finer details of a Best Offer offering, the individual had some valid points and my Google search for more information provided nothing. Therefore, I'm posting here for opinions as to what a Best Offer offering means to others.
It should be noted that a "Best Offfer" is slightly different than a "OBO" (or Best Offer) offering, in that I did stipulate a minimum amount, which then indicated that the offer had to be higher. This meant that I would not be accepting the best highest offer under the minimum in the absence of a minimum (or better) offer. (Note also: an OBO offering can be interpreted to mean acceptance of an offer either above or below a givemn price.) Whew!
It was also suggested that incoming offers should be restricted to a singular offering and not subject to incremental re-submissions, and, I should not advise the submitters where they stand. In other words, I should simply accept the offers (acknowledge my receipt of same) and without any further discussion, see who the winner is at the end of the deadline and seal the deal at that point.
I can see how this is a buyer's preference and not necessarilly something that a seller would not want, but in all fairness (since it was not addressed) I'm looking for opinions as to what might be customary in these instances, not having been there before.
In the meantime, I have opted to conduct the offer, for the time being, in accordance with the suggestion of a single offer acceptance and to not reveal the result until the deadline. HOWEVER, I did initially tell one under-bidder that they were out-bid and did confirm to a higher bidder that they were high for the time being. At this point, without naming names, I will accept a final, best offer bid from that under-bidder and have not told that higher bidder where they stand with the subsequent received bids.
For those who missed that earlier offer, this was it:
Last week Bill Judge asked about availability of Airport Club, Seal Beach, CA (cardroom) chips and I posted that I had a $20 version. However, I needed several days to locate it and post a scan.
Well, since then I have received several other emails about this chip and my reply was... I'll post a scan when I locate the chip and if you are interested, you'll need to make an offer.
I have now located the chip (in fact 2 of them) and the scan of both chips, both sides, is below. PLEASE note the faint, white, cloudy stain on both chips, both sides, and I have no idea what the problem was caused by.
Both of these chips are available by Best Offer, over $10 each, via email only through this Friday, 8:00 pm PST.
Thank you for your interest!
Jim
(The appearance of a white line around the inserts is an artifact of the scanner and do not exist!)
