Re: Why do people buy phone cards?
In Response To: Why do people buy phone cards? ()

"Why...", you ask? Because they are there.

Why do people collect casino match book covers, ashtrays, swizzle sticks, napkins, menus, slot cards, room keys, slot glass, decks of cards, table layouts, Do Not Disturb door hangers, chips buried in concrete, illegals, ivories, C&S, etc., etc., etc.?

I guess I'm one of those who does not carry a cell phone Don; although Brenda has one. We have a basic hard-wired land-line phone in A.C. for local service just in case we need to call 911 so that emergency services can see where the call is being made from (can't track a cell phone user location), and we don't have a long distance carrier in A.C. so I use the casino phone card or Brenda's cell phone for any toll calls. Also, most phone cards only cost $5, so when the time on the card is used up, the card makes a neat attractive collectible to put in the small 3 ring phone card binder. Some folks are willing to pay $5 and up for a slot card or a room key they don't have ... which they received no value for ... other than pleasure of ownership.

To each their own.
