Well, that was a long, long time ago... and I don't even remember the name of the Hurricane, but it sure did a lot of damage. I had a 26-ft boat that I docked on a creek in Freeport and almost lost it. Stayed on the dock playing with the wind, sea and line... but my boat was one of the few not washed ashore that day. I rented the dockspace from Mrs Long, who later wanted to sell the house (80-ft frontage) for $19,000. I thought she was crazy. Her brother had a place where only clams lived; no roads, and I think they later built a school on the property.
