After over 20 years of collecting and dealing in chips I have recently been asked by a major auction house to become a consultant and the consignment director. I am now working with Heritage Auctions. I am their “expert” for the field of casino chips. My job is to acquire better chips, help with marketing and catalog preparation, send out a press releases and in general spread the word about our casino chip hobby and the upcoming Americana auction May 17th.

Spreading the word and promoting our casino chip hobby is what I have done for over 20 years. It is now time to take this hobby up a few notches and let a big auction house such as Heritage Auctions (HA.com) help us promote our hobby for future growth. Being the largest coin auction house as well as the third largest auction house over all, you can bet they have a lot of clients. Not only does Heritage deal in coins but they are very well known for comic, sports collectibles and baseball cards as well as many collectible items that have become more mainstream. It is time casino chips are noticed and I am happy to be part of this upcoming auction.

As you have seen on the back cover of our latest chip club magazine there are many great chips coming up in the May 17th Americana sale. If you are interested in a catalog please let me or them know. I am preparing the catalog and hopefully finishing my descriptions tonight. There will also be a collection of gambling memorabilia someone else is consulting on as well as some great Americana items.

This auction and the publicity that is sure to come with this sale of many rare Vegas Strip & Nevada casino chips will be a positive boost for our chip hobby.

We never know who this type of sale might attact. Maybe some big casino owners. Theres still lots of money out there and many are turning to hard assets they can enjoy. I keep attuned to many hobbies, Western Americana, Nevada ghost town items, the old bottles, etc. and let me tell you collecting is as strong as ever for better items. And better items and collections are appearing in various markets due to the collectors becoming older, people feeling it is time to collect something else, etc. We need to build our hobby for the new collectors of the future and keep the young ones we have now interested.
