Unfortunately Icahn's previous track record does not leave me with much optimism other than to see him turn it into a profit and leave.
He is not a casino person but someone looking to turn a fast buck, unfortunately a lot of little people become casualties along the way. Please note vacant lot at Indiana avenue (former site of the Sands)
Hopefully I will be wrong but he will have to pull a rabbit out of a hat to fix this mess
The question I would ask is
If Atlantic City prospered for 25 or so years and now as a result of outside competition, the price of gas, smoking bans, weather, voodoo and whetever else you want to blame, what have they (meaning the casinos) done to either protect or get back market share?
I personally think that anyone that has visited A/C on a regular basis has found that they have done everything possible to chase away business.
As just one of many examples, read Judy W's. recent post about trying to get a room at Bally's..
I know for years you have been the Pinky Kravitz (A/C columnist and radio personality) of the chipboard and I commend you for your optimism but you can't fill a balloon with a hole in it full of air, even hot air
It's easy to blame everything and everyone but all they need to do is stand in front of a mirror to see where the problem lies.
Just as a side bar and I got a good chuckle out of it, Expedia still lists the Sands. Perhaps you can still reserve a room
