The El Camino was never a big seller on the East Coast. As a matter of fact I don't think it ever was a big seller period. Mostly it was a fun vehicle which could be purchased with a big power plant.

Like in today's market with Vehicles like the Ford Sport Trac or the Caddy Escalade EXT, frankly they make little sense to me unless you want to throw your mother in law in the back.
Too small to carry anything other than groceries and then no provision to secure your valuables and luggage when traveling unless you make modifications.

The claim is the best of both worlds, Some might agree but imho it's more like little of either with a hefty price tag

Nice picture however. Think I remember these in the early 60's also but those must really be rare finds these days
