Always carry on. Don't check. Chips show up as explosives because of the lead. I keep my chips separate and even comment that I have chips. Leaving Vegas is usually not a problem. Any other airport they are not use to it. If they want to inspect my bag I always ask for a private screening. To many times I have opened my bag only to have people comment as they pass by. Including the TSA agents.
