Can You Safely Clean A Hotstamp Chip?

Can you safely clean a hotstamp chip? Why not?
Here are before and after pictures of a dirty hot stamped chip.

My Cleaning Technique for Hot Stamped Chips
------------------------------------------------------

First, you cannot clean the hot stamped part of the chip with a tooth brush or anything else that is abrasive.
The hot stamp will easily wear away with any abrasion.
I carefully use my fingertips to gently rub in the cleaner in the hot stamped part of the chip.
My cleaner is Sterling's Magic, the pink stuff.
I put a little on my fingertip and then gently rub it in the center of the chip.
When the center looks clean, I start on the rim.
I cover the center hot stamp with my fingertip and use a worn soft bristle toothbrush to clean the rest of the chip.
You fingertip should protect the hot stamp through the rest of the cleaning.
I wash off the excess cleaner with warm water and then blot off (not rub) with a towel to dry the chip.
Never rub the hot stamp with anything that is more abrasive than your fingertip.
