......was developed to work in some of the early "automatic" roulette sorting machines. These are the ones with the hole in the roulette table were the dealer pushes all the chips in and then the machine sorts and stacks them below table level. The dealer then takes the stacks of chips out of the machine and puts them back in there proper place on the table.
The only problem with these chips was that the early style sorting machines actually "ate" the chips - taking large pieces out of them as they were sorted.
The autosoting machines have been improved and most now use the 24 lines style chips, with little or no damage to the chips.
