I was using DR then DO, now with Jim Follis web link - I guess it is more professional and systematic usage which is also being use in the extension of two letters in country website address: Philippines = ph or Romania = ua or Dominican Republic = do.

In this case I don't think I can recommend "use whatever is convenient for you" or "to each his own" in this situation.
