Dominican Republic....

Recently as I have been "cataloguing" my chip collection - I reflect and found out that some postings here in the board the use of COUNTRIES ABBREVIATION are like used sparringly. Since I am going for the "record" even for personal use I would like your idea or if you are using them now -what is the basis of your ABBR. My table dictionary are about 10 yrs old and my pocket dictionary does not give me an "OFFICIAL" IMPREMATUR for the ABBR.

YAHOO has one, it is the "standard"?

For example: Dominican Republic is abbr as "DR" in the emails and gives it "DOM" and "DO".

Need help as to which convention will I adhere to in my writings.

I have not studied the conventions use by the internet if they are conforming to the "official" standard, but I suspect they are.

Thank you for your reading.

At least we all agree that CB = Chip Board ~~~
I have to use 2 letter...
Re: I have to use 2 letter...
The reason for the Swiss code being CH ~~~
In some countries, only 2 letter codes will work
I think w/ your "example" - a postal letter ~~~
