Perhaps your friend should take a look at any newspaper as well (online if not hardcopy)...

I see nothing being held back by any newspaper; especially when our leaders and congress are being quoted, exactly (though not always completely on TV, I will agree).

I also suggest your friend tune in to DW and BBC in order to get an idea as to how Europe and the UK are interpreting United States/World news to their subscribers/listners.
