When you order a home poker set, what are the order of the colors and denominations on a standard set? And what quantities are sufficient?

My husband and I disagree on this and I am looking for some feedback.

Colors:
White
Red
Blue
Green
Black

Is that the correct order? Is it best to put the denominations on the chips or not? If you standardly play with a table of 8, what would be the correct quantities of each color to insure that one set is sufficient.

Please let me know your thoughts. I figure there are enough poker players out there to help me get this right.
