It was the Brass Armadillo......
Yes, the Brass Armadillo.... pretty much the biggest antique store in the Phoenix area. I was browsing there one day about 9 years ago, and saw a coin page in a display case that had 14 Las Vegas chips in it. I thought it was cool since I'd been to Vegas only a handful of times by then, but always had a great time. Even knowing next to nothing about chips, I still picked it up, took it home and looked at them for a few days, then they went into hibernation in a drawer for maybe two years.....
Then met a freind who shared the same interest in Las Vegas, and started going there for getaway trips, dug out those "old" chips, and as we were in LV I started getting a $1 chip from every single casino on the strip and downtown, then branched out to almost every casino in the LV metro area, then a $5 from my favorite places.
I was just looking through my collection last week, and page by page, I was amazed that many chips jumped out at me from the binder with its own memory..... I could remember a separate story about many of those chips.... at the time I bought them, they were just $1 each, but many locked away a story to go with them that are worth much more than that now.
Even though my collection is now approaching 500 chips, I can still point out most of those original 14.
