We drove around for a few hours and found out that there were no vacancies anywhere in Tahoe or Reno. While driving through the Lakeside Inn parking lot a guy waved us down. He had an empty gas can and asked us to take him to a gas station. He apparently was living out of a truck with a camper shell in the parking lot. We didn't have anything better to do, so we went and got gas and dropped him off.
We spent a few hours sleeping in the car. We also neglected to bring any blankets, so it was damm cold.
Two days later I found a set of keys on the back while cleaning out the car. I called my buddy and told him that he left his keys in my car. He said that they weren't his. They obviously belonged to the guy we gave the ride to. I didn't make the 10-hour round trip to see if I could find him again.
