they can not survive all that snow either...


We have these harry spiders but the big males are harmless and they are actually beautiful creatures. The females are almost hairless and will give a nasty bite. During the summer rains they come out at night like your earth worms do. I have never picked one up but I have seen many people do that including little girls.


Everytime we go camping we put a tarp under the tent and when we break camp a pack up there is almost always a scorpion under the tarp. This is a Vinegaroon Texas "whip tail" scorpion. Mean as hell! We have the variety of vinegaroon that has a transparent body and it is the ugliest critter on earth! You better go put on another pair of wool socks!
