sons as part of their drivers training from me before they got their drivers licenses was to drive my 3/4 ton 1986 Ford with a stick. And the reason why was so they would learn just in case they were ever out with someone else who's car was a stick and that person had a medical problem they could jump in and drive. Sort of just in case of an emergency training from me to them. Thankfully they have yet to need that skill, and it is a skill to use three peddles with two feet. Certainly no texting while driving a stick.
