Haiti was not originally a Black country; it long with other Caribbean islands became a slave warehouse. The tremendous trade in slaves shifted the islands population from Amerindian, later French and Spanish to predominantly Black. So, while it being the first black nation to gain independence is commendable, the way it became a black nation in the first place is a disgrace.
