You can't blame the cruise line for the bad weather, but the indifference shown by the staff was amazing. My wife has a very hard time when she feels sick, so when the doctor arrived he came with a wheelchair. He then said he could inject her to make her feel better. Then he sits in the wheelchair, puts his head in his hands and tells my wife he doesn't feel too good either.
If you want to talk about optimism: the waiter with the Bahama Mamas never stopped circulating among the passengers as they were heaving into their barf bags. For an extra dollar he could put a Dramamine into it - Cure your seasickness and get plastered at the same time.
On the other hand, the slots are not what you would call "loose" and the atmosphere in the casino was pretty down. The bright point was the 125 dollars I won at blackjack and roulette- that covered the Bahamas departure tax part of the cost.
We did however make friends with a Cuban family who had escaped Cuba back in the 60s, and met up with them twice more while we were in Miami (they didn't have any chips from Pre Castro era - I asked *bg* ).
