HAITI -- The reality is setting in.

It's been made obvious that the first team of responders have done what's needed to be done; transport those in need of medical help to hospitals off shore and so on... with the remaining problem of continual food supply to a nation where there is virtually no farming (a created problem; another subject) or processing to speak of. We know what is now taking place in Dominica, Gitmo and Miami... but the reality is where do all these amputees go once thy're released; where do the little boys and girls without mothers and fathers go -- do we simply drop them off in the streets of P-au-P and about Hispaniola...? How can people rebuild their homes that are not only lost to the recent quake, but lost to the 4 bad hurricanes of 2008... and legally; w/ the government not even knowing who holds title (a term explaind to me, but I forget) to real estate either passed down from family or previous governments (complicated). It's not as if the poor people of Haiti had homeowners insurance with hurricane damage protction like in areas here in the USA that have been destroyed by windstorm. My point is this; and I've expressed it with the governor's office (FL)... Historically we know that persons in distress can relocate and adjust quite fast and thus an exodus of huge proportions be implimented; especial wher Hatian communities now exist (NY-FL)... where they can be incorporated in both Fed and State programs or eventually better -- but to start up a program as we did in Puerto Rico with hundreds of millions of dollars being filtered in with food stamps (even though they have their act together) seems to look like a lost cause with the conditions on Haiti as they stand now and even in the long-term future. Reality should be faced vis-a-vis... otherwise we'll (and the International helping community) be tossing $$$ into the tide, getting virtually nowhere. The devistation is too great... The message is right before us, but do we read it or not. I now see the Bush/Clinton dream of a giant investment opportunity as not the best thing to even attempt; even if restoring casinos to Haiti.

God bless his children... and may we be able to follow his plan...!
