A similar thing happened to my bi-polar sister last year caused by one (or more) of the plethora of meds she takes everyday due to her condition. One of the presenting symptoms she had when she went to the ER was a build up of ammonia in her blood stream. She ended up being transfered to a local mental hospital and finally the state mental hospital where they were able to evaluate her meds which had gotten out of whack. She had hallucinations about talking with God, Santa Claus, being in the forest, and you name it! I got to see her in the mental hospital before they shipped her off to the state hospital and at that time I thought for sure there was no way she would be able to live independently again but they got her straightened out and she's doing OK now (relatively speaking.)

I will keep your dad in my thoughts and prayers; I'm sure they'll get him squared away soon!
