The casino was still Loews (privately owned) through several hotel name changes until 1998 when SBM bought it and changed it to 'Sun'.
The hotel name change occurred years before. I guess thats where TGT got the date from.
When I stayed there in 1994 & 1995 for example it was the Grand Hotel (but still the Loews casino).

Right now it is still the Sun casino but the Sun Hotel ceased to exist 5 years ago when it became the Fairmont.
