Edgar Martinez - DH - 2247 Hits - 309 HR - 2 Batting titles - 0 MVP - 0 Gold Gloves (these are not HOF stats by any means)
Andre Dawson - RF - 2774 Hits - 438 HR, a MVP award 8 gold gloves and the best arm in right I have ever seen. I forget how many knee operations he had and he still played the field. If he would have been just a DH he would have had 3000+ hits and 500 Hr's but he was a complete player.

Just like closers have a hard time getting in the HOF a player who was only a DH will have to have stats that blow you away, Martinez was a good player but his stats are not even borderline for the hall.
