but it adds nothing to the story. the story tells the same if you merely say a woman did this. adding the adjectives "large" and "black" don't change the story one bit.

I understand if you're giving a police statement because you witnessed a person do something that it's entirely relevant to include such adjectives because at that point, it's critically important. but when describing a story it adds nothing. if the individuals in the story were white, large or small, would those details have been included?
