Old family friend. Too young to join in WWII at the outset. Became 18 and joined towards the middle/end of the war. Shipped to England and was in the first wave to land on D-Day. Landed on Omaha Beach with the Maryland 29th! Faught off the beach, faught through all the French hedge rows and for 11 months after the 29th finished at Bremen! He never got as much as a scratch! At wars end he did not have enough points to come home early (anyone know what this is?) so he stayed in Germany awhile. When he had enough points he came back to the US on a troop ship. While on the ship he won over $12,000 in a craps game, had to be escorted off the ship by the MP's when it arrived. Came home bought a small business and died of old age! True story.
