My post on the Harrahs Tahoe roulettes a few days ago drew a couple of responses from TCR authors. I described the chips as Round White inlays, while TCR coded them Oversize Round inlays. This caused me to review some sample chips and the Inlay Codes in Table C in TCR. I was wrong; the chips have inlays that don't fill the center recess and are properly coded as R-White in TCR as David Spragg said in his reply.
I thought it might be instructive to post a scan of some Paul-son samples with my interpretation of the correct TCR code to see if we are all together on nomenclature.
The black Paul-son chip with the Full Graphic inlay may have been made for only a couple of customers and probably not for any in Nevada. The sample I used is a laminated chip with full 39 mm size layers on the outside. It is a molded H&C chip, but also has a second set of hats and canes on the printed inlay. Also, the center depression is smaller in diameter than the other chips in the example. I wonder if there are Full Graphic inlay chips in TCR other than the regular Chipcos.
I'm not exactly sure whether this translates properly to other manufacturer's chips, as the LGKEY roulettes from Harrahs Tahoe have inlays described as Round. They do fill the inlay depression in the chips, but the LGKEY chips have a larger diameter depression. The point may not be of great significance as I don't believe many other manufacturer's chips were made with different size inlays for the same chip diameter.
A picture or word description in the next TCR might be helpful to new collectors, and even to older collectors who have forgotten .
