Don't be too disapponted. If you had referenced page 11 of my book,"Chippin Away A
the Gambling Scene of Saratoga" you would have read..." There was one smaller than usual Chip that did show up often on the local scene and Daggs told me they used to be used at Rileys as a device to separate sums of fifty and a hundred Chips located in the racks of the gaming tables, as a help to the croupiers in keeping track of chip lots. This made sense and a lot of these Chips have shown up from time to time, and they were also a part of the “famous Rileys auction”. Thus a Saratoga Collector could include them as part of his collection, though not a Chip used by gamblers in their nightly attempts at getting rich or richer. Since Gilbert Outhwaite ran Rileys, my guess is the “G” had a specific reference or meaning. Once again the Ego factor, and since these “G” Chips were already being produced as full size Poker Chips, special ordering them was easy……the die already existed.
Hope this info might be of some help to you.
