Some High Rollers from Saito's auction

Here are the top 8 chips from Doug Saito's auction held a couple of weeks ago in Las Vegas. There were 371 lots, organized into two sessions. Tyrus called the auction as always. I didn't count them but there must have been a couple of dozen bidders present, plus the telephone bidders who were called when a lot they had mail-bid came up for sale. I believe this is the first of Doug's auctions to be video taped. Doug said for historical purposes, so don't know if he'll make it (or excerpts) available to collectors. This was a private auction limited to Club members and ChipChat subscribers and was held at Gold Coast for the first time.

Very few "No Sale" lots in this auction as Doug usually has a good handle on which chips will be popular and what kind of starting bid will lure the buyers.

I was first going to show all the chips that sold for over $300, but there were over 30 of them... too many for me to scan. There were quite a few that did sell for less, generally $15 to $20 minimums, so even if you've only been collecting for a few years, you can find something that fits your pocketbook. Lest we think only Las Vegas chips go for big money, there were only three in the top ten! Chesterfield is from N. Las Vegas.

If you're a serious collector, it will pay you to get Doug's auction catalogs and consider bidding in a future auction. No more "No-Cash-Value" collectors, please... they are going higher at each auction grin .

I just noticed I missed the two scarce Normandie Club, Gardena,CA SMCRWN dollars that sold for $1600 (shield chip) and $2200 (the tableware chip)!
