Hi Doug, at the convention this year I was talking to Dean Porter about brass cores, and he showed me a collection of salesman samples that were about ½ the thickness of a regular chip (to save hauling weight). Of course they were blank brass on the back. Have you seen these? Maybe something else you can seek out for your great collection.
