run for a BoD position that believes that they could benefit the . This BoD does its best to accomodate ALL of our membership; in this case, however, when we are living in someone else's "world" and they set the policy, we either abide by their policy or move on. That's not to say that there can't be some discussion with the South Point about this policy in the future, because I hope that there will be. I am a non-smoker (being around too much of it causes nausea & headaches for me), but realize the impact & inconvenience that the current smoking policy can have on those who do smoke. Do I care if smokers light-up outside the convention floor in the hallway -- not at all...but I don't set South Point's policies.
The convention is over eight months away...things change. Once the new convention chairperson is named, I'm sure that the club's BoD will have further discussion on this matter. But once again, it is NOT the 's policy to set.
I would urge EVERY member that wishes to improve and/or be a part of the future of the to step forward & run for office. Unfortunately, there are few that do step forward as witnessed by the last three BoD members being elected unopposed. How about you, Jim?
