... I do believe you. Some will, some won't. Everyone has an opinion and they all aren't the same... Never will be, either...
As I sighted in one of my earlier posts along these same lines, may have been last week, I had an experience similiar to yours, but the casino poker room manager took the one chip in question that I asked about, replaced it with another and later said it was "defective". If I remember your story corretly, the casino "issued" the "generic" multiple chips (they were temporary or they were running low on chips, something to that affect) and the chips were in play for awhile at multiple tables... did I remember correctly? At the time of this event is when I would have asked if the casino would give me something in writing (casino name, location, date, reason for use... maybe on a napkin, signed by the dealer, for all anyone knows). Then keep this as your "official proof" of origin and use for that casino.
But, since the casino is long gone, not going to happen so this point is mute. BUT... you can make everyone happy by showing us (chipboard) what this chip looks like by posting a picture of it. Besides, it is one of the best ways to get information on a chip... someone will know something about it... hopefully!
Keep trying to be "awkward"...
